All About Lacey Bean

1. What is your favorite book for kids… something you would like to use in your future classroom? Why do you like it?

I have so many favorites, but through reading with my cousin while being his nanny, he has really enjoyed reading, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I would use this book to have the students make fun and creative book projects, use for small group reading, or to encourage my students to read at home. I have personally also fallen in love with Fablehaven. It my be a bit confusing at times for young children, but this series definitely sucks you in. This book would be a fun book to read as a class, have discussions, and do some writing.

2. Name your three favorite T.V. shows, even if you don’t have time to watch them! What can you (or what are you willing to) tell me about your T.V. viewing habits? I’ll tell you mine if you’ll tell me yours!

My favorite T.V. shows would have to be: Community, The Office, So You Think You Can Dance, and I use to watch One Tree Hill (not anymore, it got old)
I don't watch T.V. that often, usually just on the weekends with my husband, or late at night to help my mind slow down and get ready for bed.

3. Do you collect anything? Tell about your collections:

Since I got married, almost a year ago started collecting Sparkling Cider bottles. I found that we enjoy getting this drink when we have parties, or have a special event. I thought this would be a good way to remember special memories. The first bottle I started to collect was from our honeymoon.

4. Do you keep any kind of a journal (or blog?) besides this one? Tell me about it, and what you like to write about:

I had a personal blog, but stopped updating it about a year ago. I do keep a hand written journal in my nightstand that I try to write in at least 2-3 times a week. I enjoy writing about special moments, events, memorable moments, funny things people say or do, accomplishments, goals, and religious experiences.

5. If you had to be the sponsor of an after-school group, select your 1st, 2nd & 3rd choices:

1. Peer relationships
2. Writers group
3. Career opportunities and choices

6. Have you ever taken art lessons or attended art classes outside of school? Tell about your artistic talent and/or interests:

I have not taken classes, but I did find myself at Roberts Arts and Crafts buying me an artist notebook, some pencils, and chalk. I have also done some art work for some family members to put in their children's bedrooms. I am interested in art of photography and doing more that just taking pictures, such as water colors and scrap booking.

7. Have you ever taken music lessons or belonged to musical groups outside of school? Tell about your musical talent and/or interests:

When I was about eight and nine I took piano lessons. I did okay, but never thought it was my thing. I wish I would have stayed with it because I would love to be able to play today. I am very interested in the guitar, and maybe learning to play that one day.

8. Have you ever taken dance lessons or belonged to dance groups? Tell about your dance talent and/or interests:

I have been in dance since I was three years old. I have taken at two different dance studios and also took lessons at my high school. I loved every minute of it. I have also been a dance instructor for about seven years total at different times in my life. I have taken and taught jazz, ballet, tap, gymnastics, hip hop, modern, and ballroom.

9. Have you ever taken drama classes or performed in a theater production? Tell about your theater talents and/or interests:

I enrolled in a drama class my sophomore year of high school, but transferred out the next day. I do not have much experience in theater. At times I wish I did, people tell me I am very dramatic.

10. What have I not asked you, that you would like me to know about you?

I got married on February 4, 2009, I have a little shorky dog named Ziggy, I would love to teach 2nd or 3rd grade, I love camping, water and snow skiing, going on vacations, rollerblading, playing games with family and friends, cooking, decorating (interior design), and I look forward to this class this semester.

Oh, and I normally do come to class on the first day, and I do apologize I didn't let you know in advance, but my house burned down on Christmas Eve. The whole process took a lot longer than expected, and I was still trying to get my life back in order.

  1. Wow, Lacey... I'm so glad you've told me about what happened. I'm so sorry. Are you doing alright? And, you're coming up on your first anniversary, right? I hope you will do something to celebrate! I haven't read everyone's blogs yet, but so far, you are the second person to mention the "Wimpy Kid" set. I guess I really do need to read that! 4 points
